The B-52′s “Private Idaho” b/w “Party Out of Bounds (Instrumental)” 1980. Today, April 27th, is B-52′s singer Kate Pierson’s 70th birthday!!!! (b. Catherine Elizabeth Pierson, 1948). “Private Idaho” is one of my favorite B-52′s songs. It appears on their second LP Wild Planet (as does the regular version of “Party Out of Bounds”) and it hit #74 on the US Billboard chart (#5 on the Hot Dance Club chart). “Private Idaho” and “Party of Bounds” invoke an interstellar alien rave, “Private Idaho” with its Twilight Zone rift and “Party” with echoey, surfy guitar and vocals.
