The Growlers play at 88.9

No vinyl post today because I went to see The Growlers play at 88.9′s in-studio, on-air Studio Milwaukee show this afternoon. The Growlers play “beach goth” and performed four songs (3 for the radio, the last one, “The Daisy Chain,” was just for the small studio audience), interspersed with questions from 88.9 DJ Dori Zori. Singer Brooks Nielsen handled most of the answers, one of which was about his unique voice which he credits a result of blocked ear drums, a broken nose and whiskey. (You can listen to The Growlers’ Studio Milwaukee show here.) I was fascinated by Nielsen’s voice but equally intrigued by the bassist (pictured above) and his uncanny resemblance to a young California version of The Young Ones’ Neil.

Daily (maybe) pulls from the vault: 33-1/3, 45, 78, old, older, classic, new, good, bad. Subjective. Autobiographical. Occasionally putting a record up for sale.
