Skinny Puppy “Worlock”
Skinny Puppy “Worlock” 1990. 12″ promo single (the blank cover altered digitally by me, rather poorly). It’s been sitting in my “mystery to-do” pile for around four years and today I finally bothered to put on my reading glasses to figure out what it is! Nowhere, except in the teeny-tiny credits on the record’s label, does it say what it is. Anyway! Turns out it’s the second and final single from Skinny Puppy’s 1989 LP Rabies. The record features Ministry’s Al Jourgensen on several tracks, though not on “Worlock.” As expected, it’s industrial dance, heavy and hypnotic. Side A has two versions, “Worlock (Ed)” and the slightly shorter “Worlock (LP mix).” Side B has the sinister screamy “Tin Omen 1” (the original was the first single from Worlock and Jourgensen is on the track, providing guitar and backing vocals) and more computer/space-age (but still a bit evil) “Brak Talk.”
Warning – the video is horrible (as in horrifying). I only watched a couple of seconds in order to get the link. Click at your own risk.
Daily (maybe) pulls from the vault: 33-1/3, 45, 78, old, older, classic, new, good, bad. Subjective. Autobiographical. Occasionally putting a record up for sale.
