Dan Cummins “Feel The Heat”
Dan Cummins “Feel The Heat” 2019. Romanus Records, limited edition Pepper Splatter variant. Feel The Heat is a live comedy album by stand-up comedian Dan Cummins, who also hosts the podcast “Time Suck.” We don’t generally collect comedy records – their lifespan is pretty limited because once you hear the jokes that’s kinda it, you know what comes next and it’s not like you can really sing along or dance. But a couple months ago Romanus Records had a sale on their past inventory and Feel The Heat was one of the only records they’ve released that isn’t in our collection (I don’t have the other Cummins Romanus release, Maybe I’m the Problem, but that one is completely sold out) so I figured what the hell. Plus Dan Cummins was featured as the first guest on Romanus Records’ own podcast and it was hilarious. Reviewing a comedy album is difficult because humor is even more subjective than musical taste. But my favorite “tracks” or bits on Feel The Heat are “Fuck Chuck” about his crazy neighbor in Idaho, “Feel the Heat” about using his 5 year old “snake-dick” to find out if the heater was actually hot (spoiler: it was) and the closer “Picture Your Dad’s Balls Like a Normal, Well-Adjusted Person” (not going to spoil that one but it was LOL funny).
Daily (maybe) pulls from the vault: 33-1/3, 45, 78, old, older, classic, new, good, bad. Subjective. Autobiographical. Occasionally putting a record up for sale.
