Depeche Mode promo sampler
Depeche Mode promo sampler of tracks from their 1981 debut Speak & Spell, 80′s synth pop at its finest. Martin Gore takes the writing lead on the instrumental, “Big Muff,” so there is a whisper of gothy industrial elements, a harbinger of Depeche Mode’s musical future. The remaining tracks are all by Vince Clarke: one of my favorites from Speak & Spell, the moodily dark “Photographic” (I use the chorus as my tagline for my photo Tumblr – “I take pictures. Photographic pictures. Bright lights. Dark room.”); “Nodisco,” its tempo belying the title’s claim; and the exhuberant “Boys Say Go!”
Daily (maybe) pulls from the vault: 33-1/3, 45, 78, old, older, classic, new, good, bad. Subjective. Autobiographical. Occasionally putting a record up for sale.
