Echo & the Bunnymen “Rescue”
Echo & the Bunnymen “Rescue” 1980. 12″ single on Korova Records. “Rescue”was the band’s second single (and appeared on their debut album Crocodiles as well as their comp Songs to Learn and Sing, which was my first introduction to Echo back in the mid-80′s) and their first to hit the charts; it went to #62 in the UK. Jangly post-punk with hints of neo-psychedelia, “Rescue” is also a really great pop song. The flipside to the 12″ has “Simple Stuff,” dark, more gothy post-punk than jangle-pop, and “Pride,” another post-punk, Curesque track. “Pride” also is included on Crocodiles.
