Elastica “Stutter” 1994. 10″ single on yellow vinyl with “Rockunroll” and Side B “2:1″ and “Annie.” The power pop/pop-punk song “Stutter” was Elastica’s first single release and charted In the US on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for nine weeks, peaking at #67 and #10 on the Billboard Alternative Songs chart in 1995.

The band’s heavy 70′s and 80′s punk/post-punk/new wave influences got the band into some trouble, accused by both Wire and the Stranglers of plagiarism which resulted in out-of-court settlements. I remember the accusations when Elastica released their full-length self-titled LP in 1995, then going back and listening specifically to Wire’s most-excellent Pink Flag and completely agreeing.
