Electric Frankenstein “The Time Is Now”
Electric Frankenstein “The Time Is Now” 1996. Demolition Derby Records/Nitro! Records. Tomorrow is Halloween so it’s Electric Frankenstein season! Blistering 90′s garage punk, The Time Is Now was EF’s first LP (Side A of the LP was released in ‘95 as a now out-of-print 10″ EP with the same name; “E.F. Theme” and “Fast & Furious” came out on a 7″ on Mint Tone Records in ‘94 and the last 4 songs on Side B were released on another Demolition Derby EP, A Sweet Sickness in ‘94). Such a great album! The lead track “Teenage Shutdown” is a punk anthem for the ages. “Demolition Joyride/Demolition Derby” and “Rise & Crash” are as smashing and crashing as the titles implies. Granted none of the songs really have much to do with Halloween (though an argument could be made for the last track, “A Sweet Sickness,” if you eat too much Halloween candy).
