“Punk and Disorderly – Further Charges”
“Punk and Disorderly – Further Charges” 1982, Anagram Records (US version released on Sounds Interesting Records). Compilation of mostly British punk bands, including G.B.H. (”Sick Boy”), Vice Squad (”Resurrection”) and The Insane (”El Salvador”). Action Pact’s “London Bouncers” is so girl-snotty and, man, are they pissed at those pub bouncers! The comp also includes one US act, Channel 3 (”I’ve Got a Gun”). Channel 3 were well-known in the UK as John Peel spun “Manzanar” from their debut EP on his popular radio show. The Violators’ track “Gangland” – about the film “The Warriors” – sounds like a weird mashup between Joy Division and US/Canadian punks Youth Brigade.
Likely that I picked this up at some used records store 1986ish and primarily for its cover. I was still at the point of self-education into the underground punk scene and comps were a great way to get exposure to many bands without a lot of financial outlay.
Daily (maybe) pulls from the vault: 33-1/3, 45, 78, old, older, classic, new, good, bad. Subjective. Autobiographical. Occasionally putting a record up for sale.
