Dead Kennedys “In God We Trust, Inc.” 1981. Alternative Tentacles. Though I’ve blogged about this album before (it seems that DK are particularly – and unfortunately – relevant when awful things happen these days), I just haven’t been able to get the track “Nazi Punks Fuck Off” out of my head. Though written as a scathing reaction to the punk rockers of the early 80′s who idolized fascist imagery and ideology, the sentiments are miserably still current. Just substitute the word “punk” for another one syllable word and replace “spike your hair” with “tiki torch.” As Jello Biafra says in the intro to this ‘82 performance of the song, “It’s what’s inside your head that counts. This is an anti-rascist song. Anti-fighting song…Nazi rednecks: Fuck you!”
