Paul Revere & The Raiders “Here They Come!” 1965. Today, January 7th, is band founder Paul Revere’s birthday (b. Paul Revere Dick, 1938 d. 2014). Their debut album on Columbia Records, Here They Come! reached #71 on the US charts. They recorded Side A live before an invited audience and created a dynamic performance of garage-y R&B stompin’ rock-n-roll. Several classic cover songs are included: “Louie Louie,” “Do You Love Me” and “Oo Poo Pah Doo.” Side B has a more conventional studio sound, more ballad orientated with dense 60′s style production, which includes both covers (“Fever” “Time Is On My Side”) and band compositions (“A Kiss to Remember You By”).

This album came to our vault via my Aunt Jeanie who obviously had great taste in music in the 60′s and luckily gifted us several years ago with her vinyl collection.
