]]> DepoProvera “totally useless” 1985. Sacred Fish Records. I picked this up around ‘86, probably after seeing them open for a bigger name punk band in either Green Bay or Appleton, WI (DepoProvera are from Green Bay) and/or meeting at least one of the guys at a party. The album was produced by a local punk fixture, Brian Trash, who I knew nominally (and once cut my hair). DepoProvera only recorded one more release, an EP in 1989. For this release another local fixture, Rev. Norb, replaced “totally useless” vocalist, Hutch.

The songs are very 80’s punk and represent the style that was popular in the Fox Valley: young, loud and snotty with a few nods to local geography (“Surf Lake Michigan”) and 1980’s popular culture (“CHiPs Ahoy!”). You can listen to the entire album here for a really great snapshot into the sound of the northeastern Wisconsin disenchanted youth.
