The 101′ers “Sweet Revenge”
The 101′ers “Sweet Revenge” 1981. 45 rpm. Big Beat Records. B-side “Rabies (From the Dogs of Love).” Both tracks were recorded in 1976 and released post-101′ers breakup during the height of The Clash’s ascension to the top of the punk and rock world.
“Sweet Revenge” is a mid-tempo, lilting lament with tinges of country western, especially during the guitar solo. It appeared on the 1981 LP release “Elgin Avenue Breakdown.” “Rabies” is a more upbeat pub-rocker (awesome chorus “Don’t you know you can get rabies from the dogs of love?”) and it appeared on the 2005 re-release of Elgin Avenue.
Run-off groove Side A: “Luv Porky” Side B: “A Porky Prime Cut” and “Class of ‘76″
