Timmy’s Organism “Survival of the Fiendish”
Timmy’s Organism “Survival of the Fiendish” 2018. Burger Records, yellow and pink swirled colored vinyl. Fuzzed out, buzzed out garage punk from Detroit, Survival of the Fiendish is Timmy’s Organism fifth LP. With track names like “Guzzle Gasoline” (“I’m going to puke fire!”) and “Murder City Mayhem” (those two of my favorites) you get the vibe of the album before the needle hits the wax. It’s high energy (except for the swaying, country-ish ballad “South Shore Train”) and hard rocking, with heavy guitar and shredding (strains of Sabbath on “Green Grass,” “Selfish Little Queen” and “The God of Comedy”) and some psychedelia (also on “South Shore Train”). I’m not sure why there aren’t more songs from Survival of the Fiendish available on YouTube but the LP is available for digital preview on Bandcamp. Timmy’s Organism is new to me, but primary member Timmy “Vulgar” Lampinen has been around for awhile, in Human Eye and Clone Defects. According to Allmusic, Timmy’s Organism began as an experimental solo project and then morphed into a 3-piece, releasing a couple of albums on Third Man Records.
