Why another vinyl blog???

I’ve been buying records since it was the only option. My empty-pocket days of high school and college resulted in less vinyl and a lot more blank Maxell cassette tapes and borrowing vinyl from friends, and then CD’s came along and of course digital downloads. I (and my husband, Joe) kept buying vinyl when we could – now it’s way easier due to its popular resurgence (and the fact we’re older with real jobs and enough extra spending money to buy the music, not just blank disks). Our music room is overflowing, a bit of a mess and impossible to dig through. I tried getting my husband to transfer some vinyl to digital but he’s an engineer and super-slow particular, so that project never really came to fruition. Therefore I’m starting to excavate the vault, bring out a record at a time, and listen in the comfort of my own office (clean! well-organized!) where I now have a record player. I miss my music, from the way way back, to records I’ve purchased recently but got lost in the depths of the vault.
I plan to post often, briefly, and with images, reviews or comments on the music, its meaning to me and maybe the greater popular culture. I might throw in links to audio and video, other articles or goodies that relate. There is no real plan of musical choice organization. As every single mixed-tape I ever made has been titled, it’s essentially “Songs I Like” (or in this case, albums/singles I like or at least am intrigued enough by to take off the shelf and give a listen).
Daily (maybe) pulls from the vault: 33-1/3, 45, 78, old, older, classic, new, good, bad. Subjective. Autobiographical. Occasionally putting a record up for sale.
